Back in business
After a long hiatus, we're going to ramp up the blog again. There is a lot of good stuff happening locally with climate protection, and I'm hoping to be able to capture some of it here.
On Friday July 14th, I am going to be presenting at the Climate Protection: Everybody Profits II conference. The topic will be "Tools and Solutions: What Works?" and I will be on a panel with Ericka Walther, Rick Whisman, Ryan Lamberg and Eric Eberhardt. The other panel participants are representatives of energy efficiency firms, solar power and biofuels firms. All of us are focused on local action to reduce fossil fuel-based energy use. I'll give a synopsis of the conference in a future post. In the meantime, I'll be catching up a bit on topics of interest in the climate protection world.

Glad to see that you're back at the blog, Dave. I was in Mexico last week and at dinner one night with some friends of my biz partner, we asked if they had seen "An Inconvenient Truth". Their response was that it was a load of crap and everyone knows that there is no global warming problem and that the scientists have the proof. I was a bit shocked since apparently I live a pretty insulated life and usually only socialize with like-minded people. I really didn't know what to say and I didn't want to offend my partner's friends.
There's certainly a need to educate the public.
Thanks for all your efforts and I look forward to hearing about your conference.

Thanks Denise. It is a really interesting thing to take a look at what people base their opinions about this topic on. Although the science of global warming is very solid, many people seem to think it's just a matter of opinion, as opposed to something that is actually happening, much less is a problem we need to do something about. The conference was great, and it seems that there are more and more people in the business community that are addressing the issue in their operations.
